If you already have jupyter installed, you may not install jupyter lab.

You will be using the Jupyter notebook for all the assignments and projects. So you will be returning these Jupyter notebooks for your assignments and projects. Jupyter notebook, as the name suggests, is a notebook that contains all your text input and code input with all the outputs and plots that got rendered. These notebooks are trendy in the data science team, and you can see them a lot when you start working in the industry.

JupyterLab is a next-generation Jupyter notebook interface that got many additional features. Follow the below instructions to install JupyterLab.

Make sure that you are inside your MBAN environment within your terminal(from your conda installation instructions) before installing your JupyterLab.

Since we are using conda, we have to run the following commands from your terminal.

conda install -c conda-forge jupyterlab

Here just like pip conda, install python packages from various online repositories.

Once you have installed it. Type..

(MBAN) ggeorg02@MacBook-Pro ~ % jupyter lab   

and you get to the jupyterlab in your browser like this

On the left, you can navigate to the directory that contains your Jupyter notebooks. Double click and that opens up.
